A few days of hopping around the West Coast, and we finally settled in to one spot for a few days. As you’ve seen on Twitter and on here, we’ve spent the last few days chillin’ in Oxnard, Calif. with the Cowboys. (Here is my training camp report.) As we head back East, let’s review… How was Oxnard? – I like the idea of a training camp in a random small city away from the team facility. And after being in Oxnard for a few days (my first off-site spot), I like it even more. It’s not just the camp mentality that it builds, with players away from their family and only having one thing to concentrate on for a […]
Well, I’m back from a two-night stay in Detroit, which is actually Dearborn, Mich. It becomes Allen Park when you drive a mile and get to the Lions facility. That was the place where I wrote this article that is now posted on NFL.com. What else happened on my trip? Come on in… Overall feel from OTAs: I went over a bunch of this here yesterday, but the Lions did have a very business-like feel. There wasn’t the euphoria that you might expect from a team that has just started winning after being really, really terrible for so long. Maybe that’s good. They aren’t satisfied. Another sense I got was how familiar everything is for the returning players. Think about […]
Well, check off another first. On Friday, I made my first visit to St. Louis and the Rams facility. Yesterday, the scene was Owings Mills, Md., where the Ravens practice. If you haven’t seen the castle, it’s a sight to behold. It would be tough for me to imagine a more scenic spot to hold a football practice. Also, they have a putting green out front. Awesome. Speaking of football, this is what I said on TV about the Ravens rookie mini-camp. And here is what I’ve written on the Ravens. Look for more later today. But what about all the other stuff about the trip to Baltimore? Glad you asked… Want some highlights? Overall impression: The Ravens aren’t newcomers […]
Well, I’m flying into Baltimore as I write this, gearing up for a visit to the Ravens rookie minicamp on Sunday. That means my visit to St. Louis to check out the Rams rookies is over, though you can read about what I thought here. It was my first trip to see the Rams, and it was a good one.
