Texans sticking with Schaub

Kubiak sticking with Schaub: When asked about Matt Schaub’s future as Houston’s starter, here’s what head coach Gary Kubiak had to say: “He’s our quarterback,” the coach told reporters on Monday, “I believe in him. He’s a strong kid, but it’s going to be a tough week.” Translation: I really don’t know. This is similar to a dreaded vote of confidence. Kubiak has also criticized Schaub’s ability to audible as well as his decision making ability. Then he went on to blame himself for putting Schaub in bad situations as a coach. The likelihood of sticking with Schaub beyond this season seems very low, but despite the interceptions, his fantasy numbers haven’t been too bad.  He’s had 298 or more passing […]

Jets go with Geno … for now …

Jets show lukewarm commitment to Smith: By now, you’ve surely heard that Geno Smith will be starting under center for the Jets against the Buccaneers in Week 1. Rex Ryan said the team isn’t committed to Smith beyond the opener. Well, that’s certainly reassuring. Adam Sandler: ‘Rex Ryan kills it’

Rex Ryan certainly wasn’t going to predict he’d win any awards for his performance in “That’s My Boy,” which hits theaters on June 15. But co-star Adam Sandler couldn’t heap enough superlatives on Ryan’s acting during a conference call with reporters on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan not backing off Super Bowl prediction for Jets

True to his prediction, Rex Ryan isn’t backing off his belief the New York Jets are Super Bowl-bound. Not that anyone would expect that.

Ryan saves creativity to play-calling, not tattoos

Congratulations to LaDainian Tomlinson, who no longer has the worst leg tattoo on the Jets.

Ryan: The man who cried Ruth

Blame it on the “supermoon,” but Marvin Lewis is right. Things have gotten weird. How else to explain Jets’ coach Rex Ryan comparing himself to The Babe while throwing in some Roosevelt edict for good measure?

Rex salutes The Wiz at Saturday’s workouts

Jets coach Rex Ryan gave props to an old friend Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine, hitting morning workouts at Lucas Oil Stadium wearing an Ozzie Newsome jersey from the Hall of Famer’s days as a Browns tight end.

A look back at Day 1

As we wrap up Day 1 of the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine, we’ll leave you with a few thoughts (some random), observations and highlights from what we’ve heard.

Ryan guarantees Super Bowl win for Jets

It turns out Rex Ryan packed a suitcase full of bravado and brought it to the Scouting Combine. In the most anticipated press conference of the day here Thursday, Ryan simply didn’t disappoint.

Rex Ryan: Safe to say Jets won’t kick to Hester

This just in: Another NFL coach doesn’t think it’s a good idea to kick the ball to Devin Hester.
