Progress? On Thursday, Aaron Rodgers — still recovring from a busted collarbone — said he would “need to take the majority of the reps” in Friday’s practice if we expect to see him on the field against the Cowboys. He reportedly looked and felt better today than he did earlier in the week. Rodgers owners simply need to pay close attention to this situation throughout the weekend, but even if he does return, he isn’t on auto-start status. Can Hoyer lead Browns offense?

Browns to start third-string QB: Jason Campbell is second on Cleveland’s depth chart, but head coach Rob Chudzinski has decided to start Brian Hoyer when the Browns take a trip to Minnesota for Week 3. Browns GM Mike Lombardi seems enamored with Hoyer, but even the most incurable optimists will have a difficult time making a case that Hoyer will be a productive fantasy QB this week. The Vikings don’t even have to stuff the box and dare Hoyer to beat them in the air, because Cleveland’s running game hasn’t been productive either. Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew, a close friend of the NFL Network, joined the “NFL Total Access” set Thursday, and it wasn’t long before the conversation turned toward his ill-timed Twitter shot directed at Jay Cutler.
