Donovan McNabb wasn’t so great off the field for the Vikings this season, but it turns out he’s been pretty awesome off of it.

NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora is reporting that Christian Ponder will start for the Vikings, but what will it mean to your fantasy team? Let’s just say that it can’t get much worse. If you spent any time watching Donovan McNabb throwing bounce passes to his receivers, this should be looked at as a positive move.

Christian Ponder says he wasn’t surprised the Vikings made him the 12th overall pick in last month’s draft. That would put him in the clear minority, because it was a move the surprised nearly everyone else.

Has Christian Ponder moved into the first round? Our Vic Carucci certainly believes so.

Most mock drafts have the Jaguars looking for a defensive end in the upcoming draft. But with the Jaguars being in a make-or-break year, CBS Sports Pete Prisco suggest that the Jaguars should be looking at a quarterback with the No. 16 overall selection during his appearance on “Path to the Draft.”

The lockout is having an impact on school’s pro days. When prospects such as Florida State QB Christian Ponder are working out for scouts, he is usually throwing to NFL free agents — a practice that has stopped because of the labor dispute. Ponder threw to former St. Louis WR Isaac Bruce, a fullback and a tailback while taking his scripted throws down from the originally planned 60 to 35.

Very quietly (at least until now), Florida State QB Christian Ponder has been an ascending prospect among the quarterback class in the 2011 NFL Draft. We’ll certainly take Mike Mayock’s word on this one.
