The Texans tried to play it cautious with RB Arian Foster and his hamstring injury, but that plan didn’t keep him from re-aggravating the injury against the Dolphins on Sunday.

Arian Foster is one step closer to facing the Dolphins on Sunday. Texans coach Gary Kubiak told reporters that Foster — who has become a hit with the nation’s youth — looked “much better” in Thursday’s practice.

After he left the fantasy football world twisting in the wind in Week 1, Arian Foster appears primed for his first regular-season action Sunday when the Texans visit the Dolphins.

Texans RB Arian Foster officially was ruled out of Sunday’s season opener against the Colts when the team released its inactive players at 11:30 a.m. ET Sunday. Derrick Ward will start in Foster’s place.

A quick update to pass along from the press box at Reliant Stadium, where the Texans host the Saints Saturday night: Running back Arian Foster will start tonight for Houston.

The Texans’ Arian Foster was just an anoymous running back prior to last year’s training camp, but he’s rolling around the Media Center on Wednesday, in anticipation for the announcement of the Fed Ex Air & Ground winners. Foster is up against Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles and Falcons RB Michael Turner for the ground winner.
