Despite the presence of so many talented prospects, however, it was one slightly lesser known guy (Kevin Thomas) that really used the workout to catapult himself, according to my sources.

MOBILE Ala. — Talk of a potential NFL team relocating to Los Angeles has picked up steam in recent weeks. NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reported recently that ‘It will happen at some point’ and that he expects it to be sooner, rather than later. Well, count USC RB Stafon Johnson as one who would like to see it happen. “I feel great (about that happening),” said Johnson. “I hope I can get back there with them!” Johnson was born and raised in Los Angeles, before going to play for his hometown school. He was only six years old when the Rams and Raiders both left Los Angeles. – Jason Feller

USC RB Stafon Johnson‘s explosiveness has caught the attention of scouts here, and he is flashing the athleticism that made him a star with the Trojans.

Lane Kiffin‘s first USC staff will include his father, former Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, and possibly ex-Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow. However, Kiffin will not say if any other assistant coaches with NFL ties or backgrounds will join the Trojans.

Speaking publically for the first time since officially becoming the newest coach of the Seattle Seahawks, Pete Carroll said Monday his contract with the team has been signed. NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reports the deal is for five years with a value of $35 million.

USC senior RB Stafon Johnson, who has missed most of this season following a freak weightlifting accident, will not apply for a medical hardship and will turn pro, according to his uncle. Kregg Anderson said Johnson has notified USC coach Pete Carroll of the decision.

Hard to imagine which would be more shocking — Patriots QB Tom Brady training with Cardinals QB Matt Leinart. Or that the workouts were taking place at UCLA. Although you could imagine that Brady and Leinart have a lot in common and could have talked about a number of topics including reading defenses, footwork and parenting.

Linebacker Clay Matthews, who went from walk-on to starter during his career at USC, has visits set up with Cleveland, Tennessee and Denver.
