NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks checked in from USC’s pro day on Wednesday, where he said Matt Kalil, the projected top offensive tackle in the draft, had an outstanding workout.
Tyron Smith was the focal point of USC’s pro day Wednesday, and the big man didn’t disappoint the legions of scouts and coaches in attendance.

Befitting the Trojans’ blue blood status in college football, a whopping 13 noteworthy players worked out. In total, 21 players particpated. Despite the presence of so many talented prospects, however, it was one slightly lesser known guy (Kevin Thomas) that really used the workout to catapult himself, according to my sources.

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock reports the following 40-yard dash times at USC’s pro day: LB Kaluka Maiava: 4.68; LB Clay Matthews: 4.57; DE Kyle Moore: 4.76; LB Brian Cushing: 4.68; CB Cary Harris: 4.89; WR Patrick Turner: 4.63; S Kevin Ellison: 4.70.
USC’s pro day is about to get under way, but for some of the 10 prospects the Trojans will trot out today, the chance to leave a good impression in Los Angeles actually began last night.
Quarterback Mark Sanchez had dinner with Jaguars quarterbacks coach Mike Shula last night at the Back Porch restaurant inside the downtown Marriott hotel. Jacksonville has the eighth overall pick in this month’s draft.
