Representatives from nine NFL teams — including the running backs coaches from the Arizona Cardinals (Stump Mitchell) and Philadelphia Eagles (Duce Staley) — were present at UNLV’s pro day on March 13 to watch nine players work out outdoors on FieldTurf. The player those running backs coaches were there to see was Tim Cornett (6-foot-0 1/8, 209 pounds). Cornett stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine in the 40-yard dash, broad jump, three-cone drill and shuttle runs (he was among the top performers in his position group in the 60-yard shuttle). UNLV held its pro day on Thursday in front of two NFL team’s scouts.
UNLV WR Ryan Wolfe experienced a setback at the school’s pro day. Wolfe ran the 40-yard dash in 4.88 seconds but pulled his left hamstring in the process. But not before he record a 33 1/2-inch vertical jump, 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump and 15 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds.
A good indication of whether a prospect may get drafted is if positional coaches show up to his Pro Day workout. That was the case for a pair of smaller school players this week, including UNLV running back Frank Summers.
