After spending the better part of 24 hours texting, emailing and calling people around the league, my enthusiasm for an unusually active trade deadline is waning. The Eagles, Patriots and Ravens are among the teams looking to be buyers, while the Chiefs, Bucs and Raiders are among those most interested in selling.

This morning, Dan Patrick posed an interesting question: why doesn’t the NFL push back the trade deadline? Instead of today, 4 p.m. ET, it could be early December, when certain teams know they’re out of it and would be more inclined to deal significant players to contenders.
With the NFL, the trade deadline is more dead than anything else.
Though speculation has centered around such high-profile players such as Detroit wide receiver Roy Williams and Kansas City tight end Tony Gonzalez have surfaced, no star is expected to be traded.
