Toledo’s David Fluellen gets close look from Colts

Representatives from 18 NFL teams — including Indianapolis Colts running backs coach David Walker — were present for Toledo’s pro day. A total of 10 Rockets players, plus seven other athletes from small colleges in the area, worked out indoors on FieldTurf. Toledo had one player at the NFL Scouting Combine, running back David Fluellen. Fluellen (5-foot-10 3/4, 219 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.66 and 4.69 seconds. He did the short shuttle in 4.21 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.90 seconds. He performed 16 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Toledo vying for first draft pick since 2008

The University of Toledo hasn’t exactly been a hotbed for potential pro football players, and hasn’t produced a draft pick since 2008 (when two Rockets — OT John Greco and RB Jalen Parmele — were selected).

One Toledo player — WR Eric Page — was invited to participate at the NFL Scouting Combine. Page also represents Toledo’s best shot at having a player selected in April.
