The 49ers have a lot of uncertainty heading into their preseason opener against the Broncos on Friday. Coach Mike Singletary has yet to name a starting quarterback. First-round draft pick Michael Crabtree is nowhere to be found. And star MLB Patrick Willis has yet to return to practice after suffering a strained ankle on the first day of training camp and his status for Friday is uncertain.

As for the mystery cornerbacks visiting the San Francisco 49ers today that we blogged about earlier, it turns out one of them was 10-year veteran Dre Bly. The 49ers moved quickly to replace the injured Walt Harris, signing Bly to a one-year contract on Thursday.

A day after the San Francisco 49ers confirmed CB Walt Harris tore a ligament in his right knee, coach Mike Singletary all but confirmed the 13-year veteran will be lost for the season “unless something else comes up.”
