Pick Six: NFL player/WWE superstar comparisons

The biggest story in sports this week is the return of The Rock to the WWF. The news sent waves around the world, not only was The Rock trending on Twitter, but so was his alter-ego Dwayne Johnson. That, my friends, takes star power.

And it got me thinking, is there anybody in the NFL who carries the Rock’s charisma? Some might say Chad Ochocinco, but that doesn’t really work. Mainly because The Rock was once a champion.

Six things we love about the 2000s

Valentine’s Day is a day of love, so it’s only fitting that we take a look back at the things we love about the 2000s in the NFL. We have narrowed the list down to six here. But after giving this a look, you can join in the action down below and say what you love about the NFL.

Panthers’ Williams to IR, Goodson to start

The Panthers have placed RB DeAngelo Williams on the IR, and Mike Goodson is expected to start this week vs. the Ravens.

RB Goodson will have sleeper value vs. Bucs

Panthers RB Goodson will have sleeper value in Week 10.

Panthers WR Smith battling cramps; questionable

Panthers WR Steve Smith walked off the field, apparently battling cramps after missing on a potential touchdown-pass from QB Matt Moore. Smith tried to stretch his legs in the end zone and was shown being worked on by trainers on the sidelines just before John Kasey connected on a 55-yard field goal.

Panthers WR Smith returns to practice

Panthers WR Steve Smith (ankle) returned to full practice on Wednesday. Smith missed the team’s Week 5 game against the Bears, the Panthers had a bye in Week 6.

Panthers going back to QB Moore

The Panthers announced that QB Matt Moore will be the team’s starter this week (via Twitter). Moore is obviously not a great fantasy option this week, but he does make the team’s other skill position players like RB DeAngelo Williams, RB Jonathan Stewart and WR Steve Smith much better.

Panthers WR Smith out for Sunday

Steve Smith South is going to be an interesting dilemma going forward, because QB Jimmy Clausen has nearly killed his fantasy value. So you have to appreciate it when the receiver is just ruled out for an upcoming game. Who needs this kind of trouble.

Can you name another Panthers receiver?

Where have you gone, Dwayne Jarrett? I asked because Panthers WR Steve Smith (or Steve Smith South) is down, an possibly out. In other words, his fantasy relevance could be moving further south.

Rice would have been better off inactive

One of the most unenviable places to be this morning — other than standing next to the shirtless Eagles fan like Jason La Canfora did during Fantasy Live — was sitting in front of your computer trying to decide to play Ray Rice or not.
