Redskins excited about Alexander

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander had been unemployed this season until the Washington Redskins signed the running back last week to back up Clinton Portis.
Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that Alexander is happy to be back on a roster, no matter what role he plays.

On the trade deadline day, the Washington Redskins made headlines of their own without trading a player.

The Redskins signed former NFL MVP running back Shaun Alexander to a one-year deal and punter Ryan Plackemeier. Both players will be reunited with Redskins head coach Jim Zorn, whom they worked with in Seattle.

Turns out that running back Shaun Alexander might not be the only former Seahawk who is reunited today with Washington head coach Jim Zorn.

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander will visit the Washington Redskins on Tuesday and undergo a physical with the team. If all goes according to plan, Alexander could be a Redskin by the end of Tuesday. The Redskins are seeking another back with Ladell Betts nursing a knee injury. Alexander had drawn interest from the Bengals and Saints, but neither had opted to sign him. Now the Redskins could. Tuesday could be Alexander’s day.
