The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to terms with Atlanta Falcons unrestricted free agent Michael Koenen on the biggest contract in NFL history for a punter on Friday. The six-year deal is worth $19.5 million with $6.5 million guaranteed, according to a league source.

I went to an NFL PLAY 60 Community Blitz event Thursday in nearby Lauderhill expecting to write some blogs on building a playground. Instead, I got to do a very small part to help build one, and it’s the highlight of my Pro Bowl week so far.
Shane Lechler and the Oakland Raiders reached an agreement Wedneday night on a four-year, $16 million deal that keeps the punter off the market and sets a new salary benchmark for the position. The contract includes $9 million in guaranteed money.
The Falcons will slap their franchise tag on undrafted free-agent punter Michael Koenen, league sources said Monday. The franchise punter tag — which rarely is used — carries with it a $2.48 million salary, the average of the top five highest-paid punters in the NFL.
