While standing on the Panthers’ sideline for the entire game Thursday night, I saw several things that suggested their game plan was geared more toward passing than running the ball.

According to league sources, Dolphins DBs Sean Smith and Jason Allen are sick and not expected to play Saturday night against the Panthers. However, sources close to the situation said they don’t believe either player has swine flu, as some reports have said.

The University of Utah pro day was held today in Salt Lake City, with 13 players working out and 21 NFL teams represented. Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ron Meeks was among the attendees, as were defensive backfield coaches Todd Bowles of the Miami Dolphins and Clayton Lopez of the Detroit Lions and defensive line coach Dan Quinn of the Seattle Seahawks.
