Nic Jacobs of McNesse State to visit with 49ers, Cardinals

There were 10 players who worked out at McNeese State’s pro day on April 7. The workout was held outdoors and run on FieldTurf on a 55-degree day and in windy conditions. Nic Jacobs, TE (6-foot-5, 265 pounds) — Jacobs ran the 40-yard dash in 4.76 seconds with the wind and 4.86 seconds against the wind. He had a 35-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-9 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.72 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.40 seconds. He had a good positional workout. Jacobs has visits scheduled with the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. There were 27 NFL teams represented — including a large contingent of San Francisco 49ers personnel — at Stanford’s pro day on March 20, when 14 players worked out outdoors on FieldTurf. Cameron Fleming, OT (6-foot-5, 325 pounds) — Fleming had a 25 1/2-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-1 broad jump. Fleming stood on his times from the NFL Scouting Combine in the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill and short shuttle. Fleming might not be a capable left tackle in the NFL, but he will be a very good right tackle in the league and a likely 10-year starter at the position. Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh were among those from NFL teams on hand for Virginia Tech’s pro day Wednesday. The event was held indoors and run on a tartan surface, which is a little faster than the FieldTurf featured inside most indoor facilities. Antone Exum, CB (5-foot-11 3/8, 219 pounds) — Exum ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 and 4.55 seconds. He had a 33 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-11 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.18 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.01 seconds.
