QB Sage Rosenfels, who was traded to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, wants to wear No. 18. The problem is WR Sidney Rice has the number and isn’t going to give it up cheaply, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
During this morning’s NFC coaches-media breakfast at the league meetings, I asked Vikings coach Brad Childress what attracted him the most about Sage Rosenfels, the quarterback he acquired from the Houston Texans.
Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson found out that the team had acquired QB Sage Rosenfels about four days before the team officially announced the trade. The Star-Tribune reports that when Jackson heard the news, he was unfazed and actually looks forward to a little healthy competition.

An injured MCL will keep Texans QB Matt Schaub out against the Ravens Sunday, giving Sage Rosenfels his first start since getting the nod in Houston’s final five games last season.
The Texans began the second half with Sage Rosenfels at quarterback in place of starter Matt Schaub. The Texans announced that Schaub has a left knee injury and is questionable to return.
