There’s the way Cam Newton did it, and then there’s Adam Weber‘s way. While Newton had his own “media workout” in San Diego before showcasing his talents at the combine and Auburn’s pro day — the latter of which drew a crowd in excess of 200 media types and NFL team evaluators — Weber’s workout last Tuesday was a little more under the radar.

It seemed like an unfair question. Someone asked NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt during a live chat Monday afternoon what player at the NFL Scouting Combine might be the biggest steal of the later rounds in April’s draft. Rather than sidestep the question, however, Brandt had a ready response.

Official 40-yard dash times for both wide receivers have been filed and Abilene Christian’s Edmond Gates and Fort Valley State’s Ricardo Lockette clocked in as the groups’ best at 4.37. That type of speed impacts draft stock for two guys coming out of smaller programs, but 40 speed doesn’t always matter.
