Bears coach Lovie Smith just told NFL Network’s Derrin Horton that QB Kyle Orton will be listed as the team’s third quarterback today and will only play in an emergency.

Quarterback Rex Grossman has long been the center of Bears fans’ scorn over the years. Even when he led the Bears to the Super Bowl. (Or at least, was the starting quarterback.)
And that’s not about to change after Grossman was summoned to replace the suddenly effective — and popular — Kyle Orton. Bears fans jeered Grossman on Sunday, and his teammates didn’t like it. Brian Urlacher, in particular, didn’t like it and he let fans know about it, reports Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.

Who ever would have thought that Chicago would rue the day and get sick at the idea of quarterback Kyle Orton being carted off the field with a lower leg injury.

Kyle Orton suffered what looks like a serious ankle injury and was taken off the field on a cart. It looks like he’s done for the afternoon and quite possibly even longer. Rex Grossman will take over in his absence.
