Gaudy numbers really don’t tell the full story, or properly measure the true worth of just a few wide receivers who go about doing their work while putting the goals of the team before their own.

It was a tough day for wide receivers, as Houston’s Andre Johnson, Minnesota’s Bernard Berrian and Indianapolis’ Reggie Wayne all sustained injuries. Johnson and Berrian didn’t return, although Wayne did.
The Colts can breathe a sigh of relief: Reggie Wayne is back in the game.
Reggie Wayne, the Colts’ No. 1 receiver, left the game against the Rams with a strained groin and is questionable to return. The Colts already are playing with No. 2 receiver Anthony Gonzalez, who suffered a knee injury in the season opener and still isn’t ready to play.
The arrival of WR Braylon Edwards has made a big splash in New York, but the return of LB Calvin Pace could prove to be more meaningful in the short- and long-term for the Jets.
