If you fine folks have followed along, you know I received a Festivus miracle last week when the Tennessee Titans defense scored 18 points (thank you, Mark Sanchez) to secure the win against Matt “Money” Smith. I ultimately fell short in that league (more on those circumstances in a moment). I went 2-2 on Championship Weekend, as I again took out “Money” in our NFL.com Experts League. So I’m stuck in kind of limbo, fantasy purgatory similar to the finale of “Lost.” But two championships is pretty cool. One of the biggest fears as a fantasy enthusiast, other than having to start Mark Sanchez, is for one of your guys to have a huge day … after you’ve long given up on him.

Cam Newton is an undroppable in most fantasy leagues, and it’s probably a good thing, too, considering most impetuous fantasy enthusiasts would at least consider dropping him after another disappointing game in Week 5. Like you’re sitting around, drinking a few beers, watching Dexter after the Sunday night game and thinking, “(expletive) it, I’m done with this guy.”

I got a tweet from William B. on Monday night: “Why is the one day I bench Rivers, his best day of the season?” Because that’s fantasy football. And I should know, because I spent most of my time on Thursday’s edition of NFL Fantasy Live breaking up with Philip Rivers, ending our association for the season.
Apparently, that was the kick-start he needed to get things going.
