One question for the New York Giants is how they’re going to replace departed veteran receivers Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer. The answer, as I see it, starts with rookie first-round pick Hakeem Nicks.
In what is likely to be a popular topic of conversation at Giants training camp, coach Tom Coughlin was asked Monday about his expectations for a relatively inexperienced wide receivers unit. Coughlin said he has seen enough from some of his young receivers to feel confident that they can fill that void left by Plaxico Burress.
On Friday, the New York Giants opened a rookie minicamp, their first since they released WR Plaxico Burress. Naturally, all eyes were on rookie WRs Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden, who participated in their first practice since being drafted by the team in the first and third round, respectively, of last month’s draft.
