The hiring of Greg Schiano as Bucs coach had to be one of the more stunning developments of this offseason. Any time a college coach gets “promoted” to the NFL, eyes roll. Many think of epic disappointments like Steve Spurrier or Nick Saban and see it as a mistake. Shoot, go all the way back to Ray Perkins if you want. But those guys came from major programs. And all had a pedigree that, at least, made it understandable to hire them. Not Schiano. Nope, he came from Rutgers, didn’t have any national titles, and did I mention he came from Rutgers? Never mind that he could’ve secured big-time jobs if he had wanted to leave Rutgers… it was still stunning. […]

You think being demoted from head coach of Buccaneers to defensive backs coach of the Redskins would have some sort of negative effect on Raheem Morris? Not. At. All.
The Bucs didn’t receive the desired results with inexperienced Raheem Morris. Jason La Canfora sees the team going in an opposite direction with their next coach.
NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora obtained a statement from Raheem Morris‘ following his firing by the Buccaneers on Monday:
Apparently, the Glazer family decided the time is now to start fresh in Tampa.
Raheem Morris remains alive in Tampa Bay … for now. Whether he remains with the Buccaneers remains very much up in the air.

Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris joined the “Cover Two Podcast” on Tuesday and made a few things clear: He intends to win the NFC South, LeGarrette Blount deserves to get the ball as much as possible and that his dubbing of his team as “Youngry” stemmed from a mistake.
The Buccaneers haven’t been notified of any impending punishment for impermissible contact with players during the 4½-month-long lockout, according to a team source.
