LSU running back Spencer Ware worked out on campus on Friday, April 29. Ware ran indoors and on FieldTurf, and wasn’t measured at the workout. He did weigh in at 229 pounds, though. As for his numbers, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.62 and 4.63 seconds. He posted a 34 inch vertical leap and a 10-foot-1/2 inch broad jump. In the short shuttle drill, he clocked in at 4.35 seconds, and completed the three-cone drill in 7.07 seconds. He opted not to lift, as he already had at LSU’s pro day. Ware had a good workout on the day, and caught the ball exceptionally well.

Azuza Pacific had its pro day on April 11. Workouts were held outdoors on FieldTurf. Fifteen teams sent representatives to watch eight participants. Offensive line coaches from the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers were there and 2001 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Jackie Slater ran the drills.

Ohio University held its pro day on March 20. Workouts were run outdoors on FieldTurf. Drills were performed on the game field. Five teams showed up to watch 10 Ohio players and a handful of other players from small schools.

Marshall hosted 22 teams on March 13 for the school’s pro day. Wide receiver coaches from the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles were among those in attendance. A total of seven players worked out, running the 40-yard dash inside on a rubber track while doing jumps outdoors. Aaron Dobson, WR (6-3, 211) — Despite a relatively quiet season for the Thundering Herd, Dobson impressed with the spotlight on during Marshall’s pro day. Twenty-five teams were represented at Florida International on March 8, including the Miami Dolphins defensive back coach, to watch 19 FIU and 11 small-school players perform drills outdoors on a grass field. John Cyprien, FS (6-1; 208 pounds) — Cyprien elected not to do the vertical “for personal reasons” but went on to leap 9-feet-11 in the broad jump. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 and 4.64 seconds. His time was 4.44 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.01 seconds for the three-cone drill. He did 18 reps at 225 pounds. The Cornell pro day was held indoors on FieldTurf on March 8. Fourteen teams were present for two players — offensive tackle J.C. Tretter and Luke Tasker. The workout was run by Jim McNally, a longtime NFL offensive line coach who now consults for the Cincinnati Bengals. Tretter attended the NFL Scouting Combine. Luke Tasker, WR (5-11, 190 pounds) — Son of seven-time Pro Bowl and All Pro wide receiver Steve Tasker, Luke ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 and 4.63 seconds. He recorded a 33 1/2-inch vertical, a 9-foot-7 broad jump, a 4.07-second short shuttle and a 6.70-second three-cone drill. He benched 225 pounds nine times.

Purdue defensive tackle Kawann Short will not work out at the NFL Scouting Combine or his school’s pro day on March 1. A hamstring injury will keep the star Boilermaker shelved for the immediate future, but Short will hold a personal workout for teams at the Purdue campus on March 25. FT. WORTH, Texas – They’re getting set for TCU’s pro day here, and I can tell you there is plenty of interest in quarterback Andy Dalton. Among those here to see him throw are 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden and Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

Marshall and Central Florida held pro day workouts on March 26. The highlight amongst the 11 players who worked out in front of representatives from 12 teams at Central Florida was DB Joe Burnett, who looked sharp in his positional workouts.

All 32 NFL teams sent representatives to Wake Forest’s March 23 Pro Day. Among the 11 Demon Deacons that worked out along with various players from smaller, local area programs were top prospects Aaron Curry and Alphonso Smith.

Pittsburgh RB LeSean McCoy was unable to perform in drills at the NFL Scouting Combine last month due to a lingering illness. With that behind him, he did a full workout at Pittsburgh’s pro day on March 17.

I’ve been to a few other pro days — even some at the University of Georgia — but I haven’t experienced anything like I did today. All 32 NFL teams had representatives in Athens, Ga., and some, including the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks, had multiple people on hand.
