Before Michael Vick, RG3 or Colin Kaepernick, there was Randall Cunningham. He did things at the quarterback position that fans of the NFL and fantasy football hadn’t seen before … and have rarely seen since.

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones was on “NFL AM” on Tuesday morning and he said he was ready to be the top receiver for the team, if needed. “I’m ready. … I’m ready to take in that role if we don’t get Greg [Jennings] back,” Jones said.

Not sure if you were paying attention, or taking an open-eyed snooze like some NFL referees, but it’s week 14 and the playoff race is heating up as more teams drop out, and one pesky team hangs on for dear life.

Time now to take a look at the unexpected (and expected) from Week 10, and we’re not going to talk about new Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni. Although, if you’ve followed my work, you know I love the move and have called for it the last couple of weeks. (Just look back to the 2011 Lakers season to see what an unmotivated Phil Jackson is all about.)
Historically, players who are featured on the cover of Madden see significant drops in their offensive production. NFL.com is tracking the performance of Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions over the course of the 2012 season because we believe Calvin Johnson will debunk the Madden curse. Michael Vick’s fantasy stats were adjusted after a mid-week correction by the league. It recalls Adam Rank’s warning to fear the correction.
Donovan McNabb says the Eagles’ game plan did Michael Vick no favors in Week 1.
When Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick jogged off the field in Thursday’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, shaking his hand after hitting it on teammate Jason Kelce‘s helmet, a collective groan echoed from Eagles Nation.
NFL.com and NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones later reported that X-rays taken on Vick’s thumb were negative. The question this week on radio shows and in the blogosphere will be if Vick should sit out next Monday’s matchup with the New England Patriots and how much he should play the rest of the preseason.
DeSean Jackson held out last season, and he doesn’t recommend it.
It’s easy to call someone a bust. You just look at a series of poor performances for a guy who was drafted highly, write that he’s a bust, and boom, he’s a bust. Even this week, Ravens WR Tommy Street was fighting through “bust” labels on, like, Day 2. Really?
Ex-Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb told NFL Network’s Rebecca haarlow on Saturday that he has not yet decided whether he will retire or not and currently is weighing his options.
