Linebacker Rey Maualuga, a second-round draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals, has agreed to a four-year deal, according to a source. Also Wednesday, the Vikings signed offensive tackle Phil Loadholt to a four-year deal.

It’s always a snap judgment to immediately evaluate the success of a team’s draft. With that disclaimer aside, it’s easy to see that several teams exited the first day of the draft with several potential starters. Among those are the Minnesota Vikings.

Vikings coach Brad Childress and vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman, Lions offensive line coach Pat Morris, Bills offensive line coach Sean Kugler and Dolphins offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo were among those in attendance to see the players.
