NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi reports that former Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan is expected to join the Dolphins as linebackers coach, according to a team source.

While the football world has speculated on the Chiefs’ head-coaching search the past few weeks, now the team actually can commence it. One NFL source said a name near or at the top of the Chiefs’ list is former Steelers coach Bill Cowher.

His name came up in connection to the head-coaching job in Kansas City, and now it apparently can be shot down. Those familiar with Iowa and Kirk Ferentz‘s thinking said Thursday that even if Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli wanted to hire the coach, they don’t think he could.
