The Chargers defense has played a single high coverage 76% (104/170) of the opponents drop backs. They will also be forced to stack the box due to RB Doug Martin’s presence.

As we do every week, let’s take a swing around the NFL, looking at a bunch of random things… So, what’s been up? 1. It would be difficult to argue that anyone is better at remaining calm and engineering comebacks than the Giants and Eli Manning. It was the case again last week against the Redskins, it was the case against the Bucs and… oh yeah, the Super Bowl last year. No one handles adversity better, which was a topic this week as the Cowboys prepared for them. Dallas CB Brandon Carr wasn’t lying when he said, “It’s going to be another 60 minute battle.” But what the G-Men want is to be able to perform before it gets all […]

As we do every week, let’s take a swing around the NFL, looking at a bunch of random things … So, what’s been up? 1. Is there a better place to start than the New York Jets? Oh, and for a spoiler alert, we’re not talking about Tim Tebow right off the bat. So… you might not be interested. But anyway, we’ll talk about the Jets issues at right tackle. What a mess. Wayne Hunter, who the coaches praised all offseason, was benched after two horrific performances in preseason games. Duh. Even he said, “I was waiting for it.” I imagine this makes for a bit of an awkward time for OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo, who said this spring that until they […]

The Jets struggles at offensive tackle are well-documented, and anyone who checked out Wayne Hunter on Saturday night can attest. They have a problem… one they tried to fix. The Jets dealt for former Panthers first-rounder Jeff Otah, then saw the trade nullified when he didn’t pass a physical. Soon, Otah was sent back to Carolina, and released. It wasn’t his best week. It also wasn’t the end. Otah got in his car and drove to Cleveland to work out at the O-Line Academy run by LeCharles Bentley. The goal is to make it back this season, in shape, and ready to roll. It may not be by Week 1, but at some point. On NFL.com, Bentley clued us in […]

With training camp in full swing, we’re flying around the country to bring you all sorts of interesting (and non-interesting) stuff. Let’s pause this Sunday morning to embrace routine with our nine really random things. So, what’s been up? 1. NFL Training Camp is only a few days old, but already something fantastic has happened. I’ll say right now, we’ll be hard-pressed to find something better during the entire months of July and August. What was it? Tim Tebow ran shirtless in the rain. Our friend Bob Glauber of Newsday captured it brilliantly, showing the world the most highly publicized backup in history playing for the skins team. It rained at Jets camp, Tebow needed to go inside and he […]

We’re whipping around the country for a few weeks, hitting a whole mess of training camps. Football has started, and man has it ever! We’ll try to do these trip recaps after each stop, but they’ll be a little shorter than usual… because we’re in-and-out of places. So… I’m in New York City this morning, which means I’ve left Charlotte. How was the visit to the Panthers? Here is my hit from Total Access yesterday. Some highlights… – It wasn’t really a training camp day yesterday, and that was the point. Training camp actually starts on Friday in Wofford College for the Panthers. Yesterday’s session was for injured players, quarterbacks, and younger players. A great chance for Cam Newton to […]

And we’re off! Training Camp 2012 has begun… kinda. I’m in Charlotte getting ready to head over to the stadium to watch QB Cam Newton throw with a group of young receivers. They have a three-day mini-camp before camp actually begins at Wofford College, and that’s in Charlotte today. That’s where I’ll be. You’ll be able to watch portions of this practice on NFL Network, and I’ll be on bright and early to talk about it. There will be a bunch of guys you won’t recognize, but you’ll notice the dude who was named NFL rookie of the year. He’s doing his part to help everyone get acclimated to him by showing up at this passing camp and getting to […]
