Representatives from 24 NFL teams — including defensive backs coaches from the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers — were present to watch eight Terrapins players work out outdoors on FieldTurf on a sunny, 60-degree day in College Park, Md. on April 8. Dexter McDougle, CB (5-foot-10 1/4, 196 pounds) — McDougle ran the 40-yard dash three times, doing so in 4.53, 4.47 and 4.51 seconds. He had a 37-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-2 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.18 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.84 seconds. Like at the NFL Scouting Combine, a shoulder injury prevented McDougle from doing the bench press. He looked very good on the positional workout, which was conducted by the […]

All 32 NFL teams were represented at South Carolina’s pro day, including such dignitaries as the head coaches of the Houston Texans (Bill O’Brien) and Jacksonville Jaguars (Gus Bradley), as well as the general managers of the Jaguars (David Caldwell), Buffalo Bills (Doug Whaley) and Oakland Raiders (Reggie McKenzie). The very well-attended pro day was held Wednesday outdoors and run on grass inside Williams-Brice Stadium, which was opened up for fans to come and watch the workouts. Jadeveon Clowney, DE (6-foot-5 5/8, 266 pounds) — Clowney stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine (where he posted the top 40-yard dash time — 4.53 seconds — among defensive linemen), and looked very good in the positional drills. All 32 NFL teams were represented at Fresno State’s pro day on Thursday inside Bulldog Stadium, where quarterback Derek Carr took center stage to showcase his skills in front of such notables as the entire Oakland Raiders coaching staff (including head coach Dennis Allen), Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman and offensive coordinator Norv Turner. The Raiders met with Carr this morning before the pro day workout. Carr managed to execute what Turner said was “an outstanding workout” despite spending part of Wednesday in the hospital. He did need to get an IV before working out. Carr completed 66 of 72 passes, throwing to wide receivers Davante Adams and Isaiah Burse, and tight end Marcel Jensen. Burse also was used […]

In all, 15 Louisville players took part in the pro day, which was held indoors on FieldTurf. Projected first-rounders Teddy Bridgewater and Calvin Pryor were the main attractions for the approximately 100 NFL coaches and scouts on hand. At Buffalo’s pro day on Tuesday, the outside linebacker put forth a tremendous workout, which was held indoors at the Buffalo Bills’ facility. Mack, who weighed in at 252 pounds, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds (he only ran the 40 once), which topped the 4.65 official time that he ran at the NFL Scouting Combine. He worked out both in space and with his hand in the ground, and blew people away with his […]

Stay put, Matt: When the Raiders said they weren’t committed to Terrelle Pryor, they weren’t kidding. Pryor has been dealing with knee issues, but he’s practicing again as of today … except it’s with the second unit. Matt McGloin has been named Oakland’s starter against Tennessee. The undrafted rookie ambushed the Texans by throwing three scores and no picks. I’ve said this before and will say it again: be extremely cautious about buying in on QBs who have great initial success (ie beginner’s luck). Take Case Keenum as one of many examples — another guy who hit the ground running, set off a fantasy waiver wire stampede, then tapered off as soon as defensive coordinators had some film they could […]
Matt McGloin started his first NFL game for the Oakland Raiders and quickly earned his first That Helps No One award. Read on to learn why.
