Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo drew most of the attention at Northwestern’s pro day, but I was also impressed by Northwestern receiver Rashad Lawrence‘s workout. Lawrence (6-0 7/8, 196 pounds), who did not participate at the combine, looked really good catching passes and was impressive in his drills. His times in the 40-yard dash were 4.50 and 4.53. He posted a vertical leap of 39 inches and a broad jump of 10 feet, 7 inches. He completed the short shuttle in 4.04 seconds and the 3-cone drill in 6.83. Eastern Illinois’ Jimmy Garoppolo worked out at Northwestern’s pro day on Tuesday, and the NFL figures on hand for the workout show just how much interest the small-school quarterback has from teams. Prior to Garoppolo going through pro day drills, San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien worked out the quarterback but did not stick around for the actual pro day workout. Also on hand were the quarterbacks coaches for the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans. Garoppolo completed 29 of 39 passes at the pro day, and executed the level of workout that was expected of him. However, he likely didn’t move the needle on his draft stock one way or the other.

Six Northwestern players were joined by nine other NFL hopefuls Tuesday at Northwestern’s pro day. They worked out indoors on FieldTurf in front of scouts from 28 teams.
Northwestern QB Mike Kafka’s impressive offseason continued at the school’s pro day.
He may not be anywhere near the most famous or celebrated quarterback in this year’s draft, but Mike Kafka sure did astound the scouts from 25 teams in attendance at Northwestern’s pro day on Thursday. Among those on hand were Bengals QB coach Ken Zampese and Cardinals QB coach Chris Miller.
