Increase in NFL attendance shows improvement at North Texas

Representatives from 16 NFL teams –including a special teams coach from the Denver Broncos — were present Wednesday for North Texas’ pro day, which was held outdoors on FieldTurf. Brelan Chancellor, WR (5-foot-8 1/2, 188 pounds) — Chancellor ran the 40-yard dash in 4.95 seconds against the wind and 4.54 seconds with the wind. He had a 41-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-1 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.16 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.84 seconds. He performed 15 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. North Texas punter William Atterberry could get an NFL look

Representatives from five NFL teams gathered in Denton, Texas at the University of North Texas’ Apogee Stadium — which opened in 2011 — to watch 20 athletes work out on FieldTurf. William Atterberry, punter (5-foot-9 5/8, 216 pounds) — Atterberry ran the 40-yard dash in 5.00 seconds. He punted the ball well and with good hang time. Atterberry has a chance to be a rookie free-agent pickup following the 2013 NFL Draft. Tarleton State kicker has his day in the sun

With North Texas linebacker Tobe Nwigwe — the Mean Green’s top prospect — sidelined because of a foot injury, that left the door open for kicker Garrett Lindholm to take center stage at the school’s pro day.
