Representatives from 19 NFL teams — including the general managers of the New York Jets (John Idzik) and San Diego Chargers (Tom Telesco), and a New England Patriots special teams coach — were present for Indiana’s pro day on Wednesday, when 18 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf. Cody Latimer, WR (6-foot-2 5/8, 215 pounds) — Due to a broken bone in his foot, Latimer was only able to run straight ahead and did not participate in any positional drills. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 and 4.45 seconds. He also had a 39-inch vertical jump. Latimer was at the NFL Scouting Combine, but only competed in the bench press (in which he led his position group with 23 […]

Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn was among the representatives from 15 NFL teams at Alabama-Birmingham’s pro day March 13. Lynn was on hand to see Darrin Reaves (5-6 7/8, 209 pounds), who was not at the combine. Reaves ran the 40 twice in 4.59 seconds against the wind and 4.54 with the wind. He had a 39 1/2-inch vertical and a 10-3 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.54 and the three-cone drill in 7.07. He also threw the bar up 20 times. He’s likely to be a camp free agent.

Representatives from 20 NFL teams — including New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, Seattle Seahawks wide receivers coach Kippy Brown, and assistants from the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles — were present Friday for Oregon State’s pro day, which was held indoors on FieldTurf. Brandin Cooks, WR (5-foot-9 3/4, 185 pounds) — Cooks stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, where he had one of the event’s most impressive performances — blazing a 4.33-second 40-yard dash time as the most notable effort. At Oregon State’s pro day, Cooks caught passes from former Beavers backup Cody Vaz. Cooks has a good chance to be a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Scott Crichton, DE (6-2 5/8, 269) […]

A total of 13 Red Raiders players worked out outdoors on AstroTurf, which was kind of matted down and was not a good surface. But the prospects had to work outdoors because Texas Tech’s indoor facility is being renovated. Jace Amaro, TE (6-foot-5 1/2, 266 pounds) — Amaro ran the 40-yard dash in 4.69 seconds against the wind and 4.68 with the wind. He had a 33 1/2-inch vertical jump and posted 24 reps of 225 […]

Posted: Sunday, December 22nd, 2013 | Marcas Grant Tags: Geno Smith, New York Jets
A lot of things have been said and written about Geno Smith this season. Let me add two more that probably haven’t been used much — if at all. Fantasy stud. That was the case on Sunday when the Jets rookie quarterback threw for 214 yards with two passing touchdowns while rushing for another 48 yards and a score in New York’s win over the Cleveland Browns. In total, it adds up to 27.36 points — more than Cam Newton, Drew Brees and Adrian Peterson. Combined. It was also a season high for the former West Virginia star in an up-and-down season that has now seen him score better than 20 points twice in the past three weeks. All of that is wonderful news, […]
