There isn’t much more that I can say about Johnny Manziel after his pro day Thursday, except that the workout left me even more convinced that he’s a very talented quarterback who has a chance to be a very good player in the NFL. The fact that he worked out in a helmet and pads was unusual because it’s much harder to do it that way; as far as difficulty, Manziel’s throwing session wasn’t on the same plane as the other quarterbacks. Offensive tackle Jake Matthews was the only top prospect to work out at Texas A&M’s pro day on Wednesday. Two other projected first-round picks — quarterback Johnny Manziel and wide receiver Mike Evans — did not participate in the workout (Manziel has a personal pro day scheduled for March 27, and Evans is expected to be present for that workout). Matthews was worked out by St. Louis Rams offensive line coach Paul Boudreau at the pro day that was attended by 23 NFL teams, including the general managers from the Buffalo Bills (Doug Whaley) and Pittsburgh Steelers (Kevin Colbert).
