Niners, ex-Steelers OT Smith agree to two-year deal

Marvel Smith, who started 108 of 111 career games with the Pittsburgh Steelers at offensive tackle, has agreed to a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, The Sacramento Bee reports. Financial terms of the contract weren’t disclosed, but it’s incentive-laden because of Smith’s injury history.

Steelers WR Ward undergoes shoulder surgery

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Steelers WR Hines Ward had surgery on his shoulder and not his troublesome knee. Ward sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during the AFC Championship Game last month, but will not require surgery for that injury.
