The St. Louis Rams got a piece of good news on Monday, as Steven Jackson announced his groin injury was only a strain, and not a tear.

The running game has been anemic in Mike Shanahan’s first season in Washington.
Finding a running back on the waiver wire at this point of the season is like trying to find a vegan in Nebraska. There is typically less desperation at closing time of your average tavern.
The Redskins’ game against the Jets on Friday night was intended to be the “showcase” game for veteran Willie Parker, his opportunity to star and get more involved in the backfield competition with Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson.
One of the preseason rumors surrounding the Redskins’ backfield competition is that RB Willie Parker could be in danger of not making the final roster. The latest is that fellow veteran Larry Johnson might be in the same position.
