Giants coach Tom Coughlin said the work Kenny Phillips does with trainers during the first week of training camp will determine how quickly he returns to the field. The plan all along has been to work Phillips back slowly.

As expected, Giants CB Aaron Ross will miss his second consecutive game with a hamstring injury. The Giants will also be without the services of DE Chris Canty, as reported by NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora. Canty strained his calf during practice on Wednesday and will miss a game for the first time in his five-year NFL career.
