A true fantasy: Deadline deals

The football trade deadline is just that, dead. There is little to no excitement. There is no intrigue. Teams out of the race don’t send picks to other teams for future consideration like in other sports like baseball. Here are some trades I would love to see happen.

Countdown to Kickoff: 200-yard receiving games

We’re now six days away from the start of the 2011 NFL season. When the Browns host the Bengals on Sept. 11, Cleveland will do all they can to prevent the kind of yardage Terrell Owens dropped on them in 2010 — a 10-catch, 222-yard effort in a game Cincinnati still lost, 23-20.

First and 10: Big win, big loss

The New York Giants should have been all smiles after throttling the Chicago Bears, 41-13, on Monday night, but the mood around Big Blue was glum after the team lost cornerback Terrell Thomas for the season with a torn ACL.

Talib, Britt scheduled to meet with Goodell

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib and Tennessee Titans WR Aqib Talib will meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss their ongoing legal issues.

Three and out: No worries about Vick

Michael Vick looked dreadful in a preseason loss to the Steelers. But fantasy owners shouldn’t be worried about that game — there are more important things to be concerned with when it comes to the versatile quarterback.

Three and out: Saints to utilize Ingram

The New Orleans Saints plan to use rookie Mark Ingram prominently this season, making him an interesting option for fantasy owners in 2011.

Hasselbeck makes CJ2K, Britt safer picks

Matt Hasselbeck doesn’t have a ton of fantasy value, but he sure helps the stock of the players around him in Tennessee.

Three and out: Ryan Grant expects to start

Ryan Grant expects to be the Packers’ No. 1 running back this season, but the emergence of James Starks has damaged his fantasy appeal.

Three and out: McNabb’s ‘special’ season?

Michael Fabiano has taken a siesta, so allow me to step-in and take a look at some of the top fantasy storylines on a Wednesday.

Three and out: Palmer trade could happen

If Carson Palmer is in fact traded, I’d love to see him land in Miami — for fantasy purposes, of course.

Three and out: Moreno could have company

The Broncos plan to run the football more often in 2011, which is good news for the value of Knowshon Moreno. Or is it?

Three and out: Britt’s value rising … for now

The fantasy value of Titans WR Kenny Britt could skyrocket soon … if the team adds a veteran quarterback this summer.

Three and out: Little has fantasy sleeper appeal

Fantasy owners should remember the name Greg Little on draft day — the Browns rookie wideout could become a very nice sleeper in 2011.

Three and out: Chargers interested in WR Smith

How would a move to San Diego affect the fantasy value of WR Steve Smith? Find out in today’s Fantasy Three and Out.

Britt’s issues hurting his fantasy appeal

Kenny Britt is one of the most talented young wide receivers in the National Football League, and the sky’s the limit for his potential value in the world of fantasy football — I think he can be a top-10 player at his position in 2011. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to stay out of trouble when he’s not on a football field. The Rutgers product had yet another run-in with the law this week, and is facing three charges for his alleged role during a police chase in New Jersey. This wasn’t his first incident with police, either. He was also arrested on outstanding traffic warrants back in 2010, and missed curfew during Titans training camp after being ticketed for driving […]
