Bengals defensive backs coach Mark Carrier attended Kansas State’s pro day March 11, when 10 teams were present to watch 23 players work out: 20 from Kansas State and three from smaller schools in the area. Carrier was here to see Ty Zimmerman, a defensive back who was not at the combine. Zimmerman is recovering from right labrum surgery and will work out April 28 at Kansas State. Marcus Heit, LS: Heit (6-foot-3, 252 pounds) ran 4.92 and 4.94 in the 40. He posted a 31-inch vertical and a 9-8 broad jump. His arms measured 31 1/4 inches, and he had 11 reps in the bench press. Kansas State had its pro day on Tuesday. It was held indoors on FieldTurf and attended by 17 Kansas State players and nine small-school players. Fifteen NFL teams sent coaches and staff to watch the player workouts.
Kansas State TE Jeron Mastrud (6-foot-5 1/4, 253 pounds) is recovered from the right foot surgery that kept him from working out at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he isn’t quite ready to run the 40-yard dash.
Pro day season kicked off Wednesday at Kansas State, where 16 seniors worked out indoors on field turf in front of scouts from 12 NFL teams.
A number of teams are showing significant interest in Kansas State QB Josh Freeman. He is the biggest quarterback in this year’s draft class at 6-foot-5 3/4 and 252 pounds, and he came out after his junior season.
