The the NFL playoffs are finally here. Wild Card weekend came and passed without too much hubbub, as three of the four games didn’t quite live up to the billing. Nevertheless, there were plenty of surprises as usual, so let’s get to the unexpected (and expected) for Wild Card weekend.

Based on the current state of things around the NFL, it’s tough to find any news that has major fantasy significance (sigh). So when several coaches and other organizational leaders discussed the state of their teams during the annual Owners Meetings, you can only imagine how quickly I jumped on the information.

The Vikings are in a rather precarious position at quarterback, with just Joe Webb and Rhett Bomar on the roster. So it seems like a given for the team to draft a quarterback with the No. 12 overall draft pick, right?

At least one Vikings player believes the team’s window to win is still open, a factor that will no doubt play a role in the team’s decision at quarterback.

The unsettled quarterback situation in Minnesota is one of the most intriguing of the offseason. Much like the Cardinals, Panthers, Titans, Redskins and 49ers, the Vikings have no clear-cut starter and are in search of the next franchise passer.

The news that the Vikings have hired Craig Johnson to coach their quarterbacks is sure to be followed by plenty of speculation of just who he will coach in 2011.

That’s right, many of your fantasy leagues will come down to Tuesday night because Sunday night’s tilt between the Vikings and Eagles has been postponed.

If I were a betting man, I would say Brett Favre will play in Monday Night’s game against the Bears on the frozen tundra of TCF Bank Stadium.

For the fantasy enthusiast, Brett Favre‘s presence does have a considerable impact. Especially for those brave souls who have decided to roll with RB Adrian Peterson tonight (and bless you people for doing that, hopefully your faith will be rewarded because we are all pulling for you). Favre also makes WR Percy Harvin and TE Visanthe Shiancoe much better, too.

The old cliché states that defense wins championships. Well, it might also help you win a fantasy championship, too.

It’s been a topic of conversation since he picked himself up off the turf at Mall of America field two weeks ago: Has Brett Favre played his last snap in the NFL?

If you landed Arian Foster or Peyton Hillis, chances are you’re in the playoff hunt.

Every member of the Vikings offense, including Adrian Peterson, is a major risk in Week 15.

While benching Brett Favre is unfathomable for some, many on the outside are clamoring for the Vikings, at 3-7 and with little reasonable hope for the playoffs, to turn the page from No. 4. NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock says the time is now.
