Jerry Gray, the Redskins’ secondary coach and someone who interviewed for the head-coaching job earlier this season, is formally interviewing for the defensive coordinator position Tuesday, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Former Saints coach Jim Haslett was at Redskins Park on Monday to interview for Washington’s defensive coordinator vacancy, according to numerous league sources.
The Redskins are prepared to meet with Mike Zimmer this weekend should the Bengals lose to the Jets, but also plan to meet with Jim Haslett.
Redskins owner Dan Snyder turned to Mike Shanahan, who won two Super Bowls in 14 seasons as the Broncos’ coach, to return championship glory to the franchise. Washington is 82-99 since Snyder bought the team and has missed the playoffs in eight of the last 11 seasons.
