The Colts and Saints submitted their first practice reports Wednesday with some important players missing from action as both teams begin preparations for Super Bowl XLIV.

The Colts downgraded CB Jerraud Powers from questionable to doubtful for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Jets because of a left foot injury that kept him out of practice all week.

Jets FS Kerry Rhodes (knee) was added to the team’s injury report Thursday, while DT Shaun Ellis returned, taking part in a limited portion of the practice.

If the Indianapolis Colts are going to pull off the perfect season, they’ll do it without a few key regulars in Week 16 against the Jets.

The Colts listed 29 players — over half the active roster — on Wednesday’s final injury report, including DEs Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, who are questionable to face the Jaguars.

The players worked out indoors on FieldTurf. Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff and Giants scouting director Mark Ross were among the player personnel executives in attendance. Hmmm, wonder if Alabama’s pro day taking place tomorrow had an impact on the number of teams going to Auburn today?
