If you believe in signs, the ones in Tampa Bay are pointing toward QB Jeff Garcia starting for the Bucs on Sunday against the Panthers over injured starter Brian Griese. Bucs coach Jon Gruden said Wednesday that Garcia took the majority of reps in practice, followed by Luke McCown.

Garcia replaces injured Griese for Bucs

Buccaneers starting QB Brian Griese left Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Broncos with a right shoulder injury and did not return. Griese was injured midway through the third quarter when he was hit by a blitzing Champ Bailey. He finished 13-of-19 for 88 yards.

The Buccaneers will start quarterback Brian Griese in favor of Jeff Garcia who is listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Garcia said in reports this week that he could start if needed.
