I’ve emerged from a couple of days in the film room, and wanted to share four items that caught my attention as I went back and watched each of the games from Week 10.

It’s pretty rare for a player from Hillsdale College to get drafted, much less in the third round, but don’t count out OT Jared Veldheer. One of the most physically imposing players in the entire 2010 class at 6-foot-8, 312 pounds, Veldheer was a star at the NFL Scouting Combine, finishing as a top performer in nearly every category.

Hillsdale’s pro day is not usually a hot spot for pro scouts, but this year is different. OT Jared Veldheer has emerged as a good prospect, and is generating plenty of interest.

Two years ago, it was Pierre Garcon out of Division III Mount Union College. Last year, it was Johnny Knox out of D-II Abilene Christian. This year, could Jared Veldheer from D-II Hillsdale College be the next small-school standout to turn a sensational NFL Scouting Combine performance into a promising career?
