There are so many things that can be debated at the midseason point. Even though there’s still a lot of football left to be played, I’m about to give props to some deserving guys who might not be getting the recognition they deserve.
Offensive lineman Eric Wood has agreed to a five-year contract with the Bills, according to a league source, becoming the fifth first-round pick from the 2009 draft class to reach a deal.
First-round draft pick Eric Wood, a center from Louisville, is expected to sign a contract with the Bills tonight or tomorrow, according to a league source. The Bills also are believed to be getting close to a deal with second-round pick Jairus Byrd, a cornerback from Oregon.
Picks in the top two rounds are agreeing to contracts with greater frequency now, but still a majority of the top picks unsigned.
The Bills become the first NFL team to take the field for camp, doing so Saturday morning, but it will be virtually impossible to have all of their top remain picks signed by then.
