Jackson State cornerback worth a look

Ten NFL teams were present at Jackson State’s pro day Thursday, when 13 players were measured and weighed but did not perform any drills. There was one notable name among the 13: Qua Cox, CB: Cox (5-9 5/8, 178 pounds) made the Senior Bowl roster, and on his pro day he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.64 and 4.65 seconds. He posted a 35-inch vertical and a 10-foot, 1-inch broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.54 and the 3-cone drill in 7.43 seconds. Based on his measurables and from what was seen at the Senior Bowl, Cox looks like he’ll be a free agent.

Rico Richardson stands out at Jackson State pro day

A total of 10 players from Jackson State worked out at the school’s pro day on March 8. The workouts were held outdoors on grass in front of six NFL teams.

Weather a problem at Jackson State, Alcorn State

Weather was a factor at recent pro days at Jackson State and Alcorn State.

On March 25, Jackson State had to move its pro day to the Velocity Sports Performance facility in Ridgeland, Miss., after rain forced the event indoors. Representatives from 15 NFL teams were in attendance to watch nine players work out on a FieldTurf-type surface. John Dorsey, the Packers’ director of college scouting, and Rick Reiprish, the Saints’ director of college scouting, ran the show.
