Sycamore return specialist works out before combine

Indiana State held its pro day at The SportZone in Indianapolis on Feb. 20, and representatives from 19 teams were on hand to watch a workout for Shakir Bell. Bell (5-foot-5 5/8, 185 pounds), a running back and return specialist for the Sycamores, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 and 4.62 seconds, had a 37-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-1 broad jump, ran a 4.39-second short shuttle and did 13 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Bell figures to be a priority free agent possibility after the 2014 NFL Draft.

McCleskey does his best to enhance draft status

Indiana State athletics are known for one name — Larry Bird. Since he graduated the school, it has failed to re-enter the national conscience. The football program, in particular, has been an afterthought. The last Sycamore drafted was seventh-rounder Dan Brandenburg by the Bills in 1996. DB Donye McCleskey might be the man to change that
