A lot of things have been said and written about Geno Smith this season. Let me add two more that probably haven’t been used much — if at all. Fantasy stud. That was the case on Sunday when the Jets rookie quarterback threw for 214 yards with two passing touchdowns while rushing for another 48 yards and a score in New York’s win over the Cleveland Browns. In total, it adds up to 27.36 points — more than Cam Newton, Drew Brees and Adrian Peterson. Combined. Jets show lukewarm commitment to Smith: By now, you’ve surely heard that Geno Smith will be starting under center for the Jets against the Buccaneers in Week 1. Rex Ryan said the team isn’t committed to Smith beyond the opener. Well, that’s certainly reassuring. Whether the reason behind this decision is because Mark Sanchez’s shoulder is still healing really isn’t relevant. What is relevant is you shouldn’t have either Smith or Sanchez anywhere near your fantasy roster. The Jets offense is a mess from top to bottom, and it’s not easy to envision where their point production will come from.
