Devin Hester and Matthew Stafford were among the notable players who sustained injuries in Week 13.
The Texans’ official Web site reports that RB Steve Slaton (neck), who hasn’t practiced this week, will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Jaguars. Chris Brown will start in Slaton’s place.
After a short turnaround following their Monday night loss to the Titans, the Texans returned to practice Wednesday, but held out injured starters LB DeMeco Ryans (ankle) and RB Steve Slaton (neck).

By all accounts, the right knee injury suffered by Texans TE Owen Daniels appears to be serious.
Texans RB Steve Slaton‘s lack of production has led to a lot of rumbling coming out of Houston, including remarks from coach Gary Kubiak earlier in the week that alluded to the team’s interest in then-free-agent RB Cedric Benson over the summer. Now Kubiak is suggesting that Slaton, who has deferred most goal-line and short-yardage situations to Chris Brown, could lose more carries to fifth-year veteran Ryan Moats.
Steve Slaton’s off to a slow start for fantasy owners, but the schedule seems to indicate a change in his fortunes are ahead.
On days such as Sunday and today, when the Texans have a contact practice in the morning, players are out of pads for a walk-through session in the afternoon. Gary Kubiak believes staging the walk-through later in the day enhances the ability of the coaching staff to teach while correcting mistakes made in the morning and working on finer points.
