NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi, reported to have interviewed for the 49ers’ GM position, said the job is going to in-house candidate Trent Baalke.

The Seahawks’ long search for a new general manager concluded Tuesday with Packers executive John Schneider being offered the job, which he is primed to accept, according to league sources.

There continue to be indications that Floyd Reese, the most experienced of the finalists for the general manager job in Seattle, is the favorite to land the position.

The Seahawks are wrapping up interviews with their four finalists for the vacant general manager position and expect to narrow the field to two by the weekend, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The Redskins have granted permission for secondary coach Jerry Gray to interview for the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator job, according to league sources, and a meeting could take place as soon as Thursday.

With the Seahawks interviewing four finalists for their general manager opening this week and new coach Pete Carroll also carrying an executive vice president title, it will be interesting to see which direction the team goes.

Floyd Reese struggled to land a general manager job, but he was good enough for the Patriots to hire as senior football advisor. Anytime New England signs or hires anybody, it seems to validate that person, as if other teams should have been willing to make the move the Patriots did.
