Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant made news earlier this week when he was arrested on a charge of domestic violence. Not what the team wanted right before camp (or ever). While Bryant hasn’t spoken, his lawyer has. So has his advisor and a few Cowboys greats. While putting here in South Lake Tahoe for the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, former star RB Emmitt Smith didn’t want to talk about it. He wondered what good would come of it. Then, he added, “There’s enough people commenting on it, anyway, anything I do is going to be piling on.” Well, maybe. But Smith did offer some insight on the situation surrounding Bryant. Rex Ryan conceded during his Thursday news conference that LaDainian Tomlinson no longer possesses the speed he had during his iconic run in San Diego. But the Jets coach believes the veteran running back has more football in him … and maybe even a future in dancing.
Three days stand between us and the start of the 2011 season. Before we focus on all that’s to come this season, we take a look back at what the No. 3 means when it comes to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Dave Dameshek and Adam Rank discuss life in Canton, then welcome in the longtime architect of the Dallas Cowboys (and a man who belongs in the Hall of Fame), Gil Brandt.
When it came to amassing yards via both the ground and through the air, few have done it as well as running back Marshall Faulk, who will be enshrined next week in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward – your newest “Dancing With the Stars” champion. Unbelievably, that makes not one but two players who can boast a DWTS trophy and a Super Bowl MVP trophy on their mantel.
NFL Network analyst Brian Billick opened his running back chat on NFL.com on Tuesday by saying that the value of today’s running back as been diminished, not because of skill, but because team are not putting a high value on the position. That shouldn’t matter to Mark Ingram.

NFL.com senior analyst Pat Kirwan offered up his two-round mock draft, and one name that stood out was Nebraska CB Prince Amakamara going to the Cowboys. Interesting choice, and when you think of the Cowboys drafting a defensive back you can’t help by think of the famed Rod Hill pick in 1982.
